Here’s something that is quite interesting, as much because it’s the kind of thing that leaves you scratching your head but smiling!
Apparantly Disney (as is Mickey Mouse) has collaborated with Dolce & Gabbana for the past three seasons to produce some high-end t-shirts that were stocked in Selfridges, Collette and Fred Segal (no, I didn’t know that either).
This time round they are teaming up with Brazilian furniture designers Fernando and Humberto Campana, to produce a limited edition Mickey Chair (only 25 will be made), which will be unveiled later this month at The Cartoon Chair exhibition at ALBION Gallery in Battersea, London.
The exhibition serves as a launching pad for Disney Home’s long-term strategy to develop trend-driven product sold at high-end retailers and department stores, which first gained momentum following the global fashion trend sparked by the ‘vintage Mickey’ character t-shirts launched in 2002.
It’s probably one of those projects that every brand and marketing bod over at Disney fought tooth-and-nail to be involved in, and the end result is pretty smile-inducing you’ve got to admit!
