This is courtesy of the Adverblog and Catch Up Lady sites, but I thought it so cool it should be on Ketchup.
The viral campaign for the next Batman film, which isn’t released until 2008, has begun in earnest and so far looks very very cool, and of particular interest is the strong integration of the Joker’s character into the campaign.
Best thing is to check Catch The Lady for an indepth review of the campaign so far, but my favourite part of the campaign is the result of everyone registering their email address being sent the co-ordinates for a pixel that can be removed from a website. With a viral influence spreading the desire for the pixels to be removed, and therefore showing the image underneath, word quickly spread and soon enough the ‘real’ face of the Joker was revealed.
Next best thing is that the holding page, which appears to be an error. BUT, click and highlight anywhere on the page….
I’m loving the way this reminds me of the original Joker character but with a pretty ominous overtone! It’s done its job - I’m looking forward to the movie. But I’m not sure if my enthusiasm will sustain itself until next year, so it will be interesting to see how Warner Bros. maintains the momentum, or if it allows things to cool down a bit before revving up again.
