Guerilla retail is back (but did it ever disappear?)

June 7th, 2007 · No Comments

A shopping trend that seems to come in fits and bursts, guerilla retail seems to have been pretty quiet recently but here’s a nice idea, courtesy of The Cool Hunter.

Grand Opening is a space created by two brothers (Ben and Hall Smyth), which will consistently reopen every three months.  Except, rather than hand over the keys to new owners, the store will be completely overhauled into something new.

Based in Norfolk Street, New York, Grand Opening is currently a ping-pong parlour equipped with full-sized table and recording facilities so you can watch your performances on YouTube (???)  But it won’t be around for long.  Come July, it’ll be gone, replaced by something equally quirky.
