adidas Australia promote Original Festival, with Vice

This is really really cool.  adidas in Australia have teamed up with the ever-excellent Vice to create an online pixel graphics game which enables you to create and promote an entire music festival - the adidas Original Festival.  From booking the venue, support and headline acts, sorting the after-party and then promoting the damn thing, this might just inspire a new generation of promoters!!!

I’m loving the promotion aspect, where you design the poster using a pretty good set of tools - you can see from my poster that I didn’t really spend much time on it, but no doubt there will be some great examples created.

You then promote the festival via all the channels you have at your disposal, so think MySpace, Facebook, work email etc.  Who knows, some may even go ‘retro’ and use real paper flyers!!! But the point is to get the most visitors to your festival.

In a slight anti-climax, the winner only gets a trip for 2 to the Berlin Festival 2008, and as Adverblog points out, this is a real shame…imagine how cool it would be for your festival to be brough to life!

I loved the web experience with this one; I’m really not one for spending time engaging with brand websites, but this one was different.  I personally loved the idea of having to manage the budget to get the acts you want; it made things a little more interesting and rewarding, and appealed to my days promoting garage nights.  The section where you design the poster was great as well, with the potential to easily spend more than a lunch hour perfecting the design.

And don’t get me started on the potential for how much effort you could put in promoting the thing!

[…] And then promote it as well.  Just like the adidas Original Festival idea I told you about last week.  Hey, you could do both things at once and promote a Skins festival!!!! […]
