Radiohead - Waste Central

Instead of wasting time on MySpace or Bebo, Radiohead have gone and made their own social network; Waste Central. Like any social network you can write a blog, customise your page, upload photos and videos and generally hang out. Although relatively young the site already has around 8,000 registered users, and a bunch of new features are promised soon.

It will be very interesting to see how this pans out in terms of Radiohead using this as a marketing tool (do they even have to do that anymore!?). Will gig tickets be sold through here exclusively? Will live shows be streamed here in real-time?
I’m struggling to think of a band/artist who have done this before. The Smashing Pumpkins used all the Web 2.0 functionality they could get their hands on to promote their last album here, but nothing on this scale…
