Coldplay and indie scenesters CSS have both given away a free track to promote their upcoming albums. Coldplay have given away ‘Violet’ on their site, and CSS have given away, the slightly more ominously titled, ‘Rat is Dead (Rage)’ here. It seems to be the staple now with every band giving away free downloads, so it will be interesting to see how it actually works in promoting the band. So far so good for Coldplay, they have already had something like 600,000 downloads, not bad at all.
