The O2 Dublin - O2 extends naming rights strategy

July 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Heard of The Point Theatre in Dublin’s Docklands district?  Doesn’t matter if you have cos its called The O2 now, when it re-opens its doors in December this year.  The O2 Dublin is going to be another concert venue development with a capacity of 13,000 but this time O2 has partnered with Live Nation - arch rivals to the London O2 owners, AEG.

Should we be taking this as a signal that O2 is committing to further investment in music, and live music, properties.  Could it be the tip of an iceberg, a toe-in-the-water perhaps, given that Live Nation’s live venue portfolio is so dominant in the UK.

Live Nation also has a truly global reach, and with recent additions to its 360-degree business, would provide a huge raft of exploitation opportunities across both venues and artists.
