Stephen King goes mobile

Stephen King has embraced mobile for the promotion of his new collection of short stories, Just After Sunset. A series of 25 short graphic video episodes of one of the stories, N, have been made specifically for fans to watch on their mobiles. The snippets available on the site here are fantastic, and really bring the story to life in graphic form.

What’s great about this is the content has been made specifically for mobile, not encoded from some other format and squashed in awkwardly, and it really benefits. What’s not so great is that there is a cost involved, although it is relatively small it does nothing to dispel the belief that anything downloaded to your phone will cost you an arm and a leg. The potential audience when marketing through mobile is absolutely huge, but it seems no one can get quite the right balance between the content delivery and the user experience……yet anyway.
