Rizla Invisible Players back at a festival near you

May 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Last year saw a new brand activation launched by Rizla, called the Rizla Invisible Players, which was based on a brand heritage discovery that in the 1920’s Rizla toured around a little van with a music troupe called the Invisible Players.

Anyway, I’m well pleased to see its back again for 2008 (still with the excellent […]

Gaymers Cider to replace Strongbow as cider of music?

April 8th, 2008 · No Comments

It used to be that any thoughts of cider during the summer instantly invoked memories of the Strongbow Rooms (in all its guises throughout its long history) at most of the festivals that mattered.
Well, it looks like that reign has well and truly come to an end.
Gaymers Cider, part of the Constellation portfolio, has been […]

Congratulations to everyone at brand entertainment agency, Cake.  They’ve been acquired by Havas, and will become part of the Havas Media division (which, if I’m not mistaken, includes KLP Entertainment), so expect to see some great examples of brand entertainment popping up in countries I’ve never heard of!

Relentless signs 3yr deal as exclusive energy drink of the Reading and Leeds festivals

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

In one of the better examples of brand alignment within festival sponsorship deals, Coca-Cola brand Relentless has re-signed for 3yrs to be the exclusive energy drink of the Reading and Leeds festivals, following a very successful debut last year.  Relentless has a very distinct brand positioning, with an “us against the world” feeling, which makes […]

Rizla Rocks?

April 4th, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve just come across a post on an Ibiza blog about the Es Paradis club, and it mentions a night called Rizzla Rocks taking place on a Weds.  Will be interesting to see whether they’ve simply mis-spelt Rizla, as that would mean a sponsored rival to the established (and original) Ibiza Rocks which was helped […]

Ibiza Rocks Hotel

March 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Ibiza Rocks continues to, erm, well…..rock.  In a hotel.  In Ibiza.  I want to go.
Although quite a leap for any brand, unless of course your a luxury brand like Versace et al, the Ibiza Rocks Hotel is a great idea and opportunity.  It’s going to be a “concept hotel fusing music and fashion with fresh […]

BT to sponsor Isle of Wight Festival

March 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

So BT are set to be the primary sponsor of the Isle of Wight Festival.
It seems to be a good choice by BT - the IoW festival has an older demographic than many other festivals and delivers in terms of ‘big name’ artists and audience size; perfect for influencing those in charge of choosing telecom […]

Corsa presents Bandstand, with Sunday Best

February 27th, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve just come across a slightly odd collaboration between Vauxhall Corsa and the team behind Bestival, called Bandstand.
“Corsa has teamed up with Sunday Best (Bestival, Camp Bestival) to help keep the festival experience going all year round.
Like Sunday Best, Corsa’s heritage is British through and through, with its cheeky sence of adventure and fun, […]

Live Nation pulls O2 Wireless Leeds

February 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Live Nation have decided not to go ahead with the Leeds leg of the O2 Wireless Festival following disappointing attendance over the last couple of years, with the event failing to entice in the same way as London.
But fear not, as it will be replaced by a series of smaller ‘warm-up’ gigs around the country, […]
