Nokia Royal Artist Club

February 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Nokia have a nice little thing going on with The Royal Artist Club, which is essentially a platform for artists (and credible ones at that!) to communicate with their fans in a blog format, using N Series handsets.
I like this because it has a genuine feel about it, with artists posting just random stuff that […]

Live Nation pulls O2 Wireless Leeds

February 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Live Nation have decided not to go ahead with the Leeds leg of the O2 Wireless Festival following disappointing attendance over the last couple of years, with the event failing to entice in the same way as London.
But fear not, as it will be replaced by a series of smaller ‘warm-up’ gigs around the country, […]

Orange free iPod Nano offer - what happened to convergence?

January 30th, 2008 · No Comments

I was on the tube this morning (Piccadilly line if you must know) and saw an ad on the back page of the Metro, from Orange.  They’re offering a free iPod Nano when you buy a Samsung handset, until the end of the month.  This got me thinking about the whole ‘handset as music’ convergence […]

O2 to trial great idea

January 18th, 2008 · No Comments

Although a brand that leaves me feeling a little cold, despite powering ageadin the music stakes, O2 is beginning to really impress me with its approach to new ideas and technology whilst the competition is left behind - I’ve been a staunch supporter of Orange for over 10 years, but I’m beginning to feel unloved […]

Motorola rival to iPhone?

January 9th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Motorola haven’t really had much to say after the Razr lost its kudos, but maybe things are about to change for the brand if this is anything to go by.
The Rokr E8 is the latest music handset, and features something that sounds deceptively simple and obvious that some might think could rival the iPhone (nope, […]

January 9th, 2008 · No Comments

A glance at my ‘unofficial rival blog’, Brands Bands Fans, shows that there is no let up in c**p online talent contests, with LG and Samsung both getting in on the act.
LG’s effort is called “Rock It. Tape It. Share It.” and is an attempt to reinforce the credentials of its latest line of music […]

Nokia as ‘real camera’ shock

October 8th, 2007 · No Comments

I’ve recently been getting into photography, thanks to my girlfriend who bought me an old Holga camera.  Which uses film (gasp!).  There’s something about the mystery of not being able to see your photo until you’ve had it developed that makes the experience much more interesting, exciting even.  It means that good photos you take […]

Sony Ericsson UK B-Boy Championships

October 1st, 2007 · No Comments

I spotted a flyer for the UK B-Boy Championships in a recent Don’t Panic pack, and am rather taken with the use of the Sony Ericsson roundel to say “I Love Breakin’” - check the shot below to see what I mean.  Just looks cute.

Anyway, its funny to see what is essentially one of the […]

Nokia Trends Lab at Berling Fashion Week
